Day 3

RIO DE JANEIRO COMPREHENSIVE SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today you enjoy a comprehensive tour of Rio, South America’s only Olympic city. Rio is a colorful Brazilian city lined by long stretches of magnificent beaches. It is famous for its annual Carnival, held in the weeks before Ash Wednesday. Your tour features the world famous Copacabana Beach. You also visit the famous parade sights of Carnival, the National Museum and so much more. Today will be a highlight of your trip.

Day 4

RIO DE JANEIRO
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. You have a full day to enjoy Rio and it’s incredible sites. The Travel Club will be able to assist you with a cable car ride up Sugar Loaf Mountain or a cog train trip up Corcovado Mountain and the famous Christ Statue. Perhaps you will want to visit the tropical jungle of Tijuca. The choice is yours.

Day 5

FLY RIO DE JANEIRO TO IGUAZU FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today you are transferred from your hotel to the airport. FREE AIR is included from Rio de Janeiro to Iguazu Falls National Park. Upon arrival you begin an incredible visit to the world’s largest Waterfall and waterfalls. Iguazu Falls is on the shared border of both Brazil and Argentina and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will be transferred to your first class (3 star) Ibis Hotel (or similar)or you can upgrade to deluxe (4 star) Grand Carima Resort (or similar).

Day 6

IGUAZU FALLS COMPREHENSIVE SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today you enjoy sightseeing to Iguazu Falls National Park. The Iguazú Falls, the largest waterfalls in the world, are awe-inspiring to behold, spanning the border between Brazil and Argentina. Though Brazil boasts better views of the falls, the Argentine side is also spectacular. It is hard for North American’s to imagine Iguazu with the understanding of our Niagara Falls. Iguazu is gigantic. It is actually 275 separate waterfalls and cascades coming from the Amazon Rainforest. Paved trails and catwalks wind their way around the falls—sometimes reaching within an arm’s length of the water—and a free train connects the main trailheads. In sheer size, Iguazu is 10 times larger than Niagara.

Day 7

FLY IGUAZU FALLS TO BUENOS AIRES
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. You will be transferred to the airport for your FREE AIR flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you enjoy convenient transfers from the airport to your first class (3 star) Ibis hotel or you can upgrade to the deluxe (4 star) NH Buenos Aires Florida Hotel (or similar). Welcome to the home of The Tango and Cowboys.

Day 8

Day 9-11

FUN DAYS AT SEA

Day 12

USHUAIA & TIERRA DEL FUEGO GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
Ushuaia is considered the capital of the Argentine Tierra del Fuego province. Located on the Beagle Channel and backed by the Martial Mountains, the city offers an abundance of eco-tourist activities and access to Tierra del Fuego National Park. The End of the World Museum provides regional history exhibits, and the old penitentiary houses the maritime, prison and Antarctic museums.

Day 13

CAPE HORN // THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD
At the southernmost point of the South American continent, the mighty Andes dissolve into a few rocky islands in the sea. The islands of Cape Horn’s shingle beaches and steep cliffs support a variety of birds, including kelp geese, steamer ducks and black-bowed albatross. For sailors throughout history, Cape Horn has been and remains awe-inspiring — it is the confluence of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, where nature’s power is often unleashed.

Day 14

PARADISE BAY, ANTARCTICA
Paradise Bay is a harbor in West Antarctica, one of only two ports used by cruise ships; the other is Neko Harbour. During the Antarctic summer, expect phenomenal views of the icy continent, guided hiking expeditions and penguins! The Argentine and Chilean scientific bases are also located here. Cruising Paradise Bay begins a summer season where scenic icebergs can be seen.

Day 15

GERLACHE STRAIGHT // ELEPHANT ISLAND, ANTARCTICA
In 1916, stranded on Elephant Island with no hope of rescue, Sir Ernest Shackleton set out on an epic mission to save his crew. All 22 men were saved in what remains one of the bravest rescues in exploration history. Visitors to the island can view chinstrap and macaroni penguins near Cape Lookout. Cruising today also includes the famous Gerlache Straight.

Day 16

FUN DAY AT SEA

Day 17

PORT STANLEY, FALKLAND ISLANDS
With a population of less than 2,000 people, Port Stanley has the feel of a small English village; its small size and remoteness make it unlike any other capital city in the world. The self-guided Maritime History Trail tells the tale of vessels that struggled to sail around Cape Horn; many ships were abandoned and still lie in the harbor. The islands boast magnificent unpolluted coastlines. One landmark edifice is the Christ Church Cathedral, built in 1892. Penguin-watching season runs September to April.

Day 18

FUN DAY AT SEA

Day 19

PUERTO MADRYN, ARGENTINA
Situated snugly in a well-protected bay of the Golfo Nuevo, Puerto Madryn is the Chubut Province’s natural access point for the plains of Patagonia. This vast area covers one-third of the country but is occupied by less than four percent of the population. The major draw is the proximity to such important wildlife reserves as Punta Tombo and the Peninsula Valdés. Scores of visitors endure long drives to visit these amazing nature reserves for Magellanic penguins, elephant seals, sea lions and whales.

Day 20

FUN DAY AT SEA

Day 21

MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY
Montevideo is nestled on the north shore of the River de la Plata. The best view of the city is from the top of town hall. The most prominent sites here are the statues of the country’s heroes scattered throughout the town. The grandest of them all, a 30-ton equestrian statue, sits in Independence Square, while the others fill the local parks. The top excursions include a city tour and an all-day ranch visit.

Day 22

CRUISE ENDS // BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Your amazing cruise to Antarctica comes to an end in Buenos Aires. Transfers are included from the pier to your first class (3 star) Ibis Buenos Aires (or similar) or you can upgrade to deluxe (4 star) NH Buenos Aires Florida (or similar). Your leisurely last few days in South America will be wonderful in this incredibly beautiful city.

Day 23

BUENOS AIRES SIGHTSEEING
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the Argentine capital. Argentina’s capital is a stylish city filled with tango clubs, flea markets and great restaurants. On your city tour see the main attractions, including the old Italian district of La Boca and the artists’ quarter of San Telmo. You also see the famous Palace of Evita Perone, made famous in the broadway musical and movie ‘Evita.’ The remainder of your day is dedicated to final shopping, dining and time to enjoy this beautiful city.

Day 24

BUENOS AIRES // FLY TO USA
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today you transfer from the hotel to the airport. You will fly home to North America with many wonderful memories of the greatest sights of South America and Antarctica. (NOTE: FREE AIR is included as domestic flights in Brazil and Argentina. You must arrange your flights to South America.)
